Theory of Knowledge (TOK)
Back to IB Program THEORY OF KNOWLEDGE 25 (3 credits) Semestered Theory of Knowledge 25 is a mandatory introductory course for students in the Full IB Diploma Program, but is open to students who are interested in thinking about knowledge. The course engages students in a critical reflection of themselves as Knowers. It also challenges them to reflect critically on the different areas of knowledge and ways of knowing. Students will further enquire into the problems of knowledge and consider the role knowledge plays in a global society. As part of this enquiry, students will examine the truth of knowledge claims and learn the basis for well-grounded judgments as they recognize the need to act responsibly in an interconnected world. TOK also fulfills the requirements of Religion 25. *Theory of Knowledge 25 will be offered in the second semester of the grade 11 year. Theory of Knowledge 35 will be offered in the first term of the grade 12 year as a mandatory course for students in the IB Diploma Program. TOK 35 will also be open to students interested in the course. |
